Russia arrests March 1st fugitive on the run

After the 2018 revolution, the govt re-launched the March 1st, 2008 investigation. Former regime's March 1st investigator Vahagn Harutyunyan was charged with forgery and covering up evidence. He was placed on the wanted list in absentia.

The Russian police have found and arrested him. An extradition hearing will take place.

--

Harutyunyan earlier flew to Russia for "medical reasons". Armenian court, meanwhile, issued an arrest warrant for him. The Appeals Court then overturned the arrest warrant.

If he returns to Armenia, it is likely that his passport will be taken away to prevent travel, instead of pre-trial arrest, unless prosecutors take the case to Cassations court.

COVID context

The sh-t broke loose when a patient traveled from Italy to Ejmiatsin city on February 29th, a time when there were still no recorded COVID cases in Armenia and there were no forced quarantine measures. Instead of following instructions of staying isolated and reporting symptoms, the person chose to leave the home, attend a barbershop, a wedding, etc.

Dozens of people she had contact with tested positive with COVID.

a young kid with COVID / some parents resist quarantine

A school-age child in Ejmiatsin has also tested positive with COVID. Healthcare Ministry is isolating his classmates and teachers.

Hetq outlet reports that the schoolkid is a 3rd grader, while Factor outlet says he's a high schooler. 35 fellow classmates and parents are being quarantined. The school director says a few parents are resisting a quarantine. (EITHER A QUARANTINE OR A CREMATORY, MAKE THEM CHOOSE)

Korea had its own "Ejmiatsin wedding"

Things were looking good in South Korea until Patient31 ignored symptoms and went to church and other social events, despite earlier being told to get tested for COVID (she denies she was told).

She was eventually tested once things got worse. 1200 people who attended the areas where she went eventually reported feeling sick, with hundreds of them testing positive with COVID.

80% of Korea's cases are linked to this incident.

advises against religion sermons

Ejmiatsin is the holy city where the main church is. Today the church held a sermon attended by many people.

Healthcare Ministry recommended not to attend religions sermons. "I don't know the church's full schedule, but in South Korea and Iran, the COVID exploded because of religious sermons. Don't attend them until COVID is gone," said Minister Torosyan.

The church shut down some of its services related to education, museum, social services. They'll hold a meeting tomorrow to discuss further plans.

airport navigator employee COVID / Civil Aviation chief

The 75 employees of the HayAeronavigation air traffic coordination agency have been self-quarantined after one of their colleagues tested positive with COVID. Part of Zvartnots airport was closed to act as a quarantine area.

Rumors were circulated that the Civil Aviation Chief Revazyan fled the country to Denmark to escape COVID (lol). This was denied. Revazyan is on a scheduled pregnancy vacation. (she grew up in Denmark)

"Denmark is more dangerous than Armenia right now. I decided to take my pregnancy vacation and stay with my family in Danmark now instead of March 20th because the Danish govt made changes to its travel policies. I'll continue to work remotely," said Aviation chief Revazyan.

Pashinyan had contact with COVID patient / Ejmiatsin city isolated

Pashinyan went LIVE:

28 cases so far, with 18 from Ejmiatsin wedding.

24 entries and exits will be closed in Ejmiatsin city. 3 will remain open for drivers. Every traveler will be tested for temp and isolated if necessary.

In the past, we had dozens of deaths from H1N1. At the time there was no panic because of a lack of social media. I think we're handling the situation well. It wouldn't be practical to auto-quarantine thousands of people and hold them for 2 weeks in the initial stages, to then learn that we had no resources to quarantine more risky late-stage travelers.

The 1 COVID patient from Meghri is an Italian businessman who owns a fast-food location. I recently visited there, ate food, and spoke with him. This is why I took another COVID test today. The results will be ready soon. The first lady and I currently self-isolated in Sevan.

Tomorrow morning we'll discuss a possible declaration of an emergency situation in some parts of the country, and what to do about the April 5th referendum.

who is the mysterious Meghri patient?

Pashinyan said he had physical contact with a fast-food owner in Meghri who later tested positive.

PM traveled to the Meghri area on March 10. The Italian traveler in Meghri returned from Italy the same day, and a report says he felt ill and self-quarantined quickly. It is not known when and how he managed to have contact with PM.

COVID situation as of late Sunday

0 deaths. 1 recovered. 27 active cases. 2 of them have pneumonia but they're doing good. The vast majority either don't have a fever or have it very mild.

6 of the cases were imported from abroad, with the rest contracting from them.

Another known importer is the Italian businessman from Meghri who had contact with Pashinyan.

The third known importer is the mysterious aviation workers whose colleagues self-quarantined.
