Pashinyan is negotiating with HHK over the snap Parliamentary elections. They want to delay it to 2022 because they’re afraid of a total opposition defeat, while Pashinyan says the law requires 1/3rd of Parliament to be opposition, which means Yerevan-style election results are practically impossible, and that the worst case scenario for HHK and other opposition is to have a 33% representation, which is the same ratio that the parliament has today. HHK says for snap election to take place, all other parties would have to agree too. Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs says they’re in the process of creating more social services for the elderly who need support. For example, families will be paid by the government to accept and take care of an elderly person, social workers will be sent to the elderly person’s private residence to aid, 24-hour in-home aid, health clubs for the elderly, local centers for elder care. PM Pashinyan says the government is creating the second package to aid young families in their first home purchase. To qualify, the combined age of spouses can be 70 years instead of the previous 65. Down payment is reduced from 30% to 10% if the buyer has an insurance or provides guarantees. Interest rate is 7.5% in Yerevan and 5.5% in provinces.
