Garo Garibian

Dr. Garo Garibian MD was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He received his undergraduate degree at Princeton University and his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania. He has a busy Cardiology practice in Philadelphia and is the chief of Cardiology at at Jeanes Hospital.

Dr. Garibian has served the Armenian Church since childhood. He is a member of the Holy Trinity Armenian Church in Cheltenham, Pa. where he has served on the altar for years and was ordained as a deacon in 1989. He has been a delegate to the Diocesan Assembly of the Eastern Diocese of America for over 25 years and has served as the Vice-Chairman and Chairman for the Assembly.

He first visited Armenia as a teenager with the ACYOA Studies program in 1971 and 1973 which created his first ties with the motherland. After the earthquake of 1988, he visited Armenia numerous times bringing medicines and supplies, acting as an ambassador for the motherland. He has created many links with the church in Armenia and Nagorno Karabagh, leading him to take part as a delegate twice for the election of the new Catholicos in 1995 and in 1999. He enjoys his trips to Armenia so much that he has led several tour groups to Armenia over the past several years.

Dr. Garibian has a grown-up son and daughter and is the brother of Tanya Paretchan. He speaks English and Armenian.
