SWEARING IN OF CRESCENTA VALLEY WATER DISTRICT BOARD OF DIRECTORS
(La Crescenta, CA - December 13, 2005) - Crescenta Valley Water District (CVWD) was not on the ballot this November 8th. The filing period for this election was July 18th through August 12th and besides the incumbent Directors, there were no other applicants. Therefore, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors at its meeting held on November 15, 2005, appointed Directors Mr. Vasken Yardemian, Mr. Richard, Atwater, and Mr. Ernest Webber, in lieu of election, to the CVWD Board of Directors, for a term of office expiring December 4, 2009.
The Directors were sworn in at the December 13th Board Meeting, and will serve a 4-year term. CVWD is pleased to have all three of the Directors back for another four years. "I have been honored to serve Crescenta Valley community as a Board Member of CVWD for the last four years" said Yardemian. "I am privileged to be able to continue serving the Crescenta Valley community in the next four years. My priority has always been to ensure the fulfillment of our community's needs regarding water and wastewater issues. I have placed special emphasis for the Water District to deliver high quality water supply and reliable wastewater collection system at the most reasonable cost to its ratepayers".
Director Yardemian, who was elected in November of 2001, has served one term on the CVWD Board. He has been active in the La Crescenta community for the last ten years. He served on the Crescenta Valley Town Council for four years and was also Council president. Director Yardemian has also had numerous appointed positions within City of Pasadena. He has served on the Planning Commission, Code Enforcement Appeals Commission and Relocation Appeals Commission. He is a member of several professional organizations such as Association of California Water Agencies, Air and Waste Management Association. Director Yardemian has worked for the South Coast AQMD for the last 17 years as an environmental engineer and holds an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and an M.S. in Environmental Science.
Crescenta Valley Water District is a local government agency located in La Crescenta, California. It provides water distribution and sewage collection within the unincorporated communities of La Crescenta, Montrose, and Verdugo City as well as small portions of the City of La Canada-Flintridge and Glendale. The Water District serves an area of approximately 4 square miles in relatively steep terrain ranging from 1200 feet to almost 3000 feet above sea level. The District currently provides water to over 8000 accounts representing a population of approximately 32,000. The District is governed by a five-member Board of Directors, the members of which are elected-at-large by the registered voters within the District.
