Armenian animated feature film: David Of Sassoon

Hello to whoever reads this email. This is Hayk Manukyan from Hayasapictures.com You may know the site and its main character named Harut. I've been making animated short toons starring Harut for the past 2 years and have teamed up with an American studio named Six Point Harness to produce a 6 episode series called Neenja starring Harut.

I have recently decided to take on a huge project known as "David Of Sassoon". I'm sure you've heard of him. This will be an animated feature not aimed at children, but all audiences. I strongly believe that our culture is full of great stories waiting to be shared with the world therefore I will do what I can to make this happen, and it will happen.

Currently I am raising $50, 000 out of which I have raised over $7,000 through donations from our viewers. The 50k will be used to create a 2 to 3 minute trailer that will then be used to attract investors for the final film.

Raffi, You are a guy who knows if something like this is in the works. This is a transliteration tool. Do you know of anyone that has done something similar with Armenian? We have been talking about integrating something like this with firefox to find a way around KDWin. The goal is to help spread unicode Armenian scripting.

Enrichment of Armenian content on the Internet.

Hello,

Why can't we have books originally written in Armenian available on the Internet either as fac-simile or some other means (typed?). I am not particularly religious,(I think of religion more of a national and cultural identity rather than having anything to do with the supernatural which is of course the product of the human intellect) but we could start with the Bible both in Ashkharapar and Krapar. For the people of Armenian ancestry who can't understand the language, this will provide a sort of Rosetta stone, since the Bible is translated in most of the world languages. I am dismayed by the fact that there are so few references in Armenian on line. This is due to the fact that most Armenians express themselves either in English or Russsian or French. Even the Vratsis have more stuff on the Internet. My wife is part Georgian originally from Tbilisi. Arevmda Hayeren g'rnam xosil gartal yev k'rel. Nice work! Very interesting stuff! So "Tsolakert" really isn't Igdir, ah well. I'm sure it had to have been called something else before the Turks came in. From what I've read the word "Igdir" is of Turkic origins. Is this just a cover-up - I mean, could it actually be an Armenian word? If so, what does it mean? I also found it interesting that the name "Kanayan" seems to have been very popular in the region (looks like "Dro" wasn't the only one). Any idea what "Artyunk" is? Opinion question

Hey Raffi, I have a question for you. Do you think the word "Hayastan" sounds too Asiatic as opposed to European? Should Armenians adopt the name "Armenia" instead? There are a few others who have admin powers. I gave it to you because I've seen your work for a long time on WP and when I saw that you were reverting vandalism yesterday I knew that it is easier for admins with the features we get to use, plus you could block users and mark articles as patrolled (only needed for pages which get spam a couple of times). So there you go! If people are around long enough they'll sign their comments - I don't think ppl read the bottom of edit pages anyway. Thanks again! :) I guess what really drew me to Armeniapedia is its freedom. On Wikipedia, you would always have to resolve things with opposing editors with negotiations and concessions. There were also too many rules to abide by. Here at Armeniapedia, one can openly express the truth about the conflicts in the South Caucasus. This is especially the case with Karabakh which seems to always be under pressure from Azerbaijan. What always puzzled me is how Aliyev states that Karabakh will be "liberated" and if need be "by force". First, how can you liberate a country or region that does not wish to be liberated and second, how can one liberate anything "by force"? Anyway, something to think about. The Yegvor Issues

Look up http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mushku To find more about Phrygians and Mushku or Mushki(Mushkitsi) These are Georgian tribes, they have nothing to do with our history. We are never remembered by the name Phrygians, but yet we are rememberd by Nairi etc etc. Greeks say there is no link with Assyrians referring to Phyrgians as Mushki, yet Moshchoi which Greeks use is Georgian tribes. We have always called ourselves with the name Armen. The most common Armenian name. I have been searching, but coming up short. I'm looking for some DVDs or videos that I can play for my 21 month old daughter in Eastern Armenian. I have one that an aunt gave me, it is Dodi and Vaco, but it is Western Armenian and doesn't jive with the way my family speaks Armenian. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Higher Education

I was wondering if you could help me out. I have a friend that is here on a work visa from Armenia. He really wants to finish his schooling here to get his MBA. However, he really can't afford to do it alone. I was wondering if you knew of any programs....grants or scholarships...anything like this, that he may be able to apply for. He is Armenian, not american-Armenian so I thought maybe he might be eligible for some foreign study grant or maybe there are scholarships available specifically for someone in his situation.

Any help you could give me would be sooo great :) If you know of anything specifically, or can just give me ideas on where to look further or who else I can ask, thats awesome too. Thank you so much.

Please add Dr. Varaztad H. Kazanjian to your list of famous Armenians. He has been called the "miracle man of the western front" because of his early plastic surgeries during WWI. He 'helped elevate plastic surgery to a distinct specialty". I found out that there will be a book published about Dr. Kazanjian by Chandler House Press authored by Dr. Hagop Martin Deranian in April 2007 titled "Miracle Man of the Western Front".

Also, I didn't see any information at this site about Vivien Leigh; but there are reports that she was part Armenian. I believe that there is information to this regard in Wikipedia; this, too, should be investigated.

The information on both artists should be included in Wikipedia as well, but I am not an editorial contributor for that site. If you are, or if you know of anyone that is, and if the above information can be verified, both artists should be included in Wikipedia's "List of Armenians" section.
