Grandson Tullian Tchividjian inspired Family Church congregation
Pastor Tullian Tchividjian, grandson of evangelist Billy Graham was a recent guest speaker at The Family Church on Marco.
"My family and I have been coming to Marco Island for vacation for over 30 years. This has been our home church," said Tchividjian.
Vacationing on Marco with his wife Kim and daughter Genna, Tchividjian recalls when they used to stay at one of the hotels on the island. As his family began to grow and they needed more room, they began renting a condo. In addition to his daughter Genna, Tullian and his wife Kim have two teenage sons, Gabe and Nate who usually vacation with the family.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida to Virginia Leftwich (Gigi Graham) and Dr. Stephan Tchividjian, a clinical psychologist of Swiss-Armenian ancestry, Tullian is the middle child of seven siblings.
Gigi Graham is the oldest daughter of Billy Graham. She is also an inspirational speaker.
Pastor Casey Nowlin met Tchividjian in 2013 at the Gospel Coalition Conference in Orlando in 2013 and again in 2014 at Liberate Conference put on by Pastor Tchividjian. They became friends.
For the past five years, Tullian Tchividjian has served as senior pastor at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
D. James Kennedy founded Coral Ridge Ministries in 1960 where he served as senior pastor until his death in 2007.
"I was the black sheep of the family -- the Prodigal, a drop-out of high school and kicked out of my home when I was 16 years old," said Tchividjian. "God tracked me down at 21 and not only rescued me, but called me to be a preacher," said Tchividjian.
Pastor Tchividjian (pronounced Cha-va-jin) is the author of seven books about Christianity and current issues. His latest book is called "Jesus+Nothing=Everything." He is a visiting professor of theology at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, and a contributing editor to Leadership Journal.
"The way I have seen God build His Church here on Marco Island over the past 30 years has been amazing," said Tchividjian. "I am thrilled by the work God is doing at this church."
