Tigran Torosyan, Deputy Chairman NA
Tigran Torosyan was born on April 14, 1956 in Yerevan.
Mr. Torosyan received his degree from the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1978. He is an engineer in electronic technologies, Technical Sciences PhD., holds patents on 10 inventions and has written more than 30 scientific studies.
In 1978 he started work in the Yerevan Scientific Research Institute of Mathematical Machines, first as an engineer and then head of subdivision and leading scientific associate. From 1996-1998 he was a member of the RA Central Electoral Commission and from 1997-1998 he was the general editor of Hanrapetakan newspaper.
1999-2003 was his first term as a deputy in the NA (from the Unity Alliance party) where he served as a member of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs and later was elected Vice Chairman of the NA. He was also a member of the Unity Faction and from 2001-2003 he was the chairman of the Ad hoc Committee on Constitutional Amendments.
Mr. Torosyan was reelected on May 25, 2003 from the proportional list of Republican Party of Armenia. He was elected Vice Chairman of the NA on June 12 and chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee of the NA on Issues of Integration with European Structures in September. He is also a member of the Republican Party of Armenia Faction and deputy chairman of its board.
Mr. Torosyan is married and has one child.
