The above piece by Robert Fisk is not worthy of being presented here. Charents' legacy is not that of a philanderer but a truly great poet. Another inaccuracy in Fisk's article is that Tamanyan died on Feb. 20, 1936, therefore he couldn't have been hard at work when Charents was imprisoned. ("hard at work building Yerevan's new Stalinist opera house - the moment Charents' schoolboy prank was spotted").
