Armenian Cossacks ask Mayor of Moscow to lease house of famous Armenian commander

The Armenian Council for Cossacks Affairs turned to the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, requesting to lease the 19th century house of the famous commander Mikhail Loris-Melikov.

The Council representatives told the aforementioned to Armenian News ` NEWS.am correspondent.

The building constructed by architect Mikhail Bikovski in the 1830-40s, is located on Milyutinsky Lane in the city center. `Any historical detail connected with such an exceptional personality as Loris-Melikov, is very valuable to us. Moreover, among other things, he is our compatriot. Mikhail Tarielovich also made a significant contribution to the Cossacks activity: from 1863 to 1875, he was an appointed chieftain of Terski Cossack Troops,' stated Chairman of the Armenian Council for Cossacks Affairs, Michael Grigoryan, who is also Lieutenant General of the Armenian Armed Forces,.

Mikhail Loris-Melikov (1825-1888), representative of one of the most famous Armenian noble families of modern times, entered Russian history as a skillful commander and governor.
