Joan Bamberger

Dr. Bamberger, since 1977 an Associate Professor of Anthropology at Wellesley and currently a visiting scholar with the Armenian International Women's Association, is working on a book-length sociological study and history of the Armenian community of Watertown. She has also taught at Brandeis University, Yale University, and Tufts University, and has written and lectured widely on Armenian and Women's Studies-related subjects. In addition, she has done extensive research and writing on Brazilian society. She received her education at Smith College, Radcliffe College, and Harvard University, where she received a PhD degree in anthropology. She was born in New York City and is now a resident of Watertown.
