Hovik Abovyan
File:Hovik Abovyan.jpg Hovik Abovyan was born on June 1, 1964 in the village of Koghb in the Noyemberyan region.
Mr. Abovyan graduated from the Kirovakan branch of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute in 1991 with a degree in engineer-mechanic of vehicles and road construction machinery. He was awarded the Fredrick Nyunsen medal and honorary diploma in 1998.
In 1985 he started work in the Noyemberyan Automobile plant as a construction worker. From 1991-1993 he headed the Noyemberyan cooperative venture Marina. The next two years he was an inspector in the RA Noyemberyan Tax Inspectorate. From 1994-1995 he was an inspector in Bagratashen Customs Office under the RA Customs Department and from 1995-1996 its deputy head. From 1996-1998 he was head of the Bagratashen Customs Post, the next two years he was head of the Bavra Customs Post and from 2000-2001 he was head of Bagratashen and later Gogavan-Privolnoyeh Customs Posts under the RA Ministry of Public Revenues.
On May 25, 2002 Mr. Abovyan was elected to the NA (electoral district # 75) where he served as a member of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs. He was a member of the Republican Party of Armenia Faction.
On May 25, 2003 he was reelected from electoral district # 56 and currently serves as a member of the NA Standing Committee on Financial-Credit, Budgetary and Economic Affairs. He is a member of both the Republican Party of Armenia Faction and party.
Mr. Abovyan is married and has two children.
