Hovahn, was the rebellious monk from St. Karapert Monastry in Western Armenia, who for many years in the mid-eighteeth century had fought against the Ottomans and the Kudish tribes. He had maintained communication with Hovsep Emin for a possible General revolt with the assistance of King Heraclius.
