Honored Collective - the State Dance Company of Armenia

The soul of the Armenian people expressed itself strikingly in its national dances. It’s mode life and character, its soul and hard, full of terrible ordeals history, its cheerfulness and lively humor and the unquenchable faith in bright future were embodied in dances of the people. And in one of the autumn days of 1958 in Yerevan the State Dance Company of Armenia was born. Its founder were: the Honored Art Worker of Armenia George Asaturyan, People’s artist of Armenia, the ballet-master Edvard Manukyan, famous ballet-masters, artists, composers, including the present music leader of the company Khachatur Avetisyan. It is impossible to remain indifferent to the strong and ardent call of these dances. Energetic and lithe, merry and spirited – this is the soul of the people, which express itself in the great outburst of joy.
