Grigor Haroutyounyan
File:Grigor HAROUTYOUNYAN.jpg Grigor Harutyunyan was born on October 10, 1954 in the village of Shvanidzor in the Meghri region.
Mr. Harutyunyangraduated from Yerevan Animal Husbandry and Treatment Institute in 1976. He is a veterinary-engineer.
In 1976 he started his career as a veterinarian in the collective farm of the Shvanidzor village in Meghriregion. From 1976-1977 he served in the Soviet Army. The next five years he worked as a chief veterinarian in the Meghri Agricultural Department. From 1982-1985 he was the head of the Meghri Agricultural Department. From 19851987 he worked as an instructor in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Armenia. From 1987-1990 he was the head of the Executive Committee of the Meghri Regional Council. From 1990-1991 he was the first secretary of the CPA Meghri Regional Committee. The next five years he was the first director of the Meghri Cheese Factory and later the President of Meghri Cheese Factory CJSC.
From 1990-1995 he served on the Supreme Council (electoral district # 228) and was a member of the Communist Party of Armenia Faction.
From 1999-2003 he was a deputy at the NA (electoral district # 69) and he served on the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs and later the deputy chairman of that committee. He was a member first of the Unity Faction and later became the leader of the People's Voice Deputy Group.
On May 25, 2003 he was reelected to the NA from the proportional list of the Justice Alliance. He is currently on the NA Standing Committee on Social, Health Care and Environmental Protection Affairs and a member of the Justice Faction. He is also the secretary of the Armenia People's Party board.
Mr. Harutyunyan is married and has two children
