Greater Armenia (Mets Hayk, Arm: Մեծ Հայք) is the name of the historic homeland of Armenians, corresponding geographically roughly to the part of Anatolia and the Caucasus known geographically as the "Armenian Highlands". There were fifteen provinces, and each was broken up into smaller regions.
Aside from Greater Armenia, there was Lesser Armenia on the western border. Much later in Armenian history, the invasion of Greater Armenia caused many Armenians to flee to the southwest to the Roman province of Cilicia, where they formed a new Armenian Kingdom also called Little Armenia.
