Garni Church

XI or XII AD - Kotayk Marz
This page is about the restored church of Garni, not the Garni Temple, which is on a separate page. The church is only about 10 minutes walk from the Temple, and on the cobblestone road which leads down to the breathtakingly beautiful Garni Gorge.
The church is small and has undergone an excellent restoration recently. Around the windows, doors, and other decorative elements, there are many intricate carvings. This is worth a walk over from the Garni Temple, and definitely worth a stop on the way down to the breathtaking Garni Gorge, which you should pack a picnic lunch for.
