Avo Katerjian

Avo Katerjian is a Syrian-Armenian writer (born in Aleppo in 1970). He began by writing articles concerning Armenian issues. He has deeply studied Nakhichevan issues and that ended with his first book published in 1996 dedicated to Nakhichevan entitled “Armenian Nakhichevan or distorted NAXCIVAN”. The book sheds light on the destruction of the Armenian cultural heritage in that area. Avo Katerjian lectured in different armenian communities in Syria and Lebanon. He is also member of founder board of ABBA (Armenian Black Belts Academy) chapter of Syria in 2000. He is Counselor of public relation and educational program. A. Katerjian has many articles in the Armenian press such as Kantsasar (Aleppo), Aztag (Beirut), Droshag (Yerevan), Horizon (Canada), Asbarez (Los Angelos), Abaraj (karabakh), Alik (Tehran). Avo katerjian has published a new book in 2008 entitled “Lexicology and loanwords”. The book is unique with 1000 words with full Armenian translation which will be useful for teachers, students, researchers and also translators. The book is an excellent resource for those who encounter the foreign words that permeate spoken and written Armenian . In addition of the explanation of some complex Armenian words, the book contains words from many languages including: French, Greek, Latin, Russian, Arabic, Turkish, and Kurdish, etc. with an identification of the language of origin. These words are written also by the language of origin. It is a bunch of some foreign words imported from other languages and adopted in the Armenian language in Armenia and all over Armenian Diaspora .
