Ashot Nadanian

Ashot Nadanian (19 September, 1972) is an Armenian International Master of chess (1997).

Played in the 32nd Chess Olympiad (1996), in the 1st European Individual Chess Championship (2000) and in the Zonal Tournament 1.5 of World Chess Championship (1998).

In 1998 Nadanian was awarded the title of Honoured Coach of Armenia and in 2007 — FIDE Trainer. He is the former coach of the Kuwait National Team (1999–2001). Currently, he is the National coach of Singapore Men's Team (since 2005).

He is acknowledged as one of the most original and inventive players.

The opening system 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.cxd5 Nxd5 5.Na4 is named after him (Grunfeld Defence, Nadanian Variation).
