The Armenian Relief Society, A.R.S or H.O.M (Armenian: Հ.Օ.Մ., Հայ Օգնութիան Միութիւն),is an independent, non-governmental and non-sectarian organization which serves the humanitarian needs of the Armenian people and seeks to preserve the cultural identity of the Armenian nation. Its Current Global Headquarters are located in Watertown, Massachussetts.

Founding[edit | edit source]

The Armenian Relief Society, Inc. is the oldest Armenian women's organization, established in 1910 in New York City. Since its foundation, the ARS, Inc. has provided educational and humanitarian assistance to Armenians everywhere. Today, the ARS, Inc. has entities in 26 countries where members of the Society contribute to their communities and the larger world for the betterment of all humankind...

Goals[edit | edit source]

The ARS, Inc.'s programs include building, operating, and subsidizing Armenian language schools, community centers, and nursery schools; sponsoring orphans; aiding orphan education and orphan meal programs in Armenia and Artsakh; granting scholarships to deserving and outstanding students; building a long-need community infrastructure in Javakhk, Georgia, and providing critical maternal care and general health services to the Gyumri, Armenia region which was struck by a devastating earthquake in 1988. This is just a small sample of our outreach and social relief efforts around the world.

  • Fund raising to aid suffering Armenians worldwide;
  • Clothing drive for Armenian refugees in the Caucasus;
  • Training of nurses to be sent to the war front to take care of the wounded;
  • Teaching the Armenian language to Armenians in the diaspora;
  • Organizing a nationwide membership drive;
  • Founding Armenian schools wherever chapters existed.
