ATP Announces Appointment of New Director in Yerevan
YEREVAN--Armenia Tree Project (ATP) is pleased to announce that Areg Maghakian has been appointed director of the ATP Armenia operations effective July 1, 2013.
Areg Maghakian has been working at Armenia Tree Project since 2010, most recently serving as deputy director. Born and raised in San Diego, California, Mr. Maghakian has a business degree from the American University of Paris. He came to Armenia in 2007, leaving behind a promising career in Silicon Valley to volunteer through Birthright Armenia. During this time, he met his wife, a fellow volunteer from Canada, Nyree Abrahamian. The two decided to make their home in Armenia and have a one-year-old son named Aramé. Mr. Maghakian’s prior experience spans from the IT sector to communications and NGO development.
“The future is bright for this organization. We’ve got great programs and an incredibly talented and devoted group of people to see them through. I look forward to doing my part to help advance ATP's mission,” states Maghakian.
