Zanku Armenian
Zanku Armenian has held numerous volunteer positions in the Armenian American community in Washington, DC, San Francisco, CA and Los Angeles, CA during the course of the last 30 years. He is Chairman of the City of Glendale's Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee, appointed by the Glendale City Council in Glendale, CA for the term period 2013-2017. Prevously, he was President of the Glendale Water and Power Commission, appointed by the Glendale City Council and serving on the commission 2009-2013. In addition, he was a Sunday columnist for the Los Angeles Times, in their Glendale News-Press and other community newspapers 2009-2012.
Professionally, he holds a senior level executive position in public affairs and corporate communications with one of the largest corporations in Southern California. Previously, he has held various senior level management positions at various large global public relations firms around the country including Burson-Marsteller, Powell Tate (now part of Weber Shandwick) and Brodeur. He also has been very active in national, state and local politics including work in the U.S. Congress, Presidential campaigns as well as directing communications strategy for various state and local political campaigns on both the east and west coasts.
He is a board member of BizFed (Los Angeles County Business Federation), on the Board of Advisors for the USC Price School of Public Policy Local Leaders Program, Board of Directors alternate with the Southern California Leadership Council lead by former California governors Davis, Wilson and Deukmejian and active with many other southern California business and government associations. He is a founder and National Co-Chair of the Armenian American Democratic Leadership Council and a founding board member of the California Armenian American Democrats, an officially chartered organization of the California Democratic Party. He is a frequent guest commentator and analyst on local and national radio, TV and in newspapers regarding issues of concern to the Armenian American community on international, national and local levels as well as issues in his professional area of expertise in the public relations, public affairs, marketing, corporate communications and political arenas.
