YEAR OF ARMENIA IN RUSSIA TO KICK OFF JANUARY 22

YEREVAN, JANUARY 9, ARMENPRESS: On January 22 Armenian president Robert Kocharian will travel to Moscow to join his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin for an official opening of an extensive set of various events titled The Year of Armenia in Russia.

Deputy culture minister Gagik Gyurjian told Armenpress that Armenian dance groups, theater troupes and singers will perform in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and other big Russian cities. During the official opening a statue of the Russian Queen Catherine the Great that has been preserved in Armenia will be handed to Russia.

One of the major events will be display of treasures from Etchmiadzin at Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg.
