Sophia Malkasian
Sophia Malkasian is originally from Eugene, Oregon, U.S.A. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Colorado College and studied abroad in India. She earned a dual Master’s Degree in International Affairs (Southeast Asian Studies) and Business Administration at Ohio University. For two years she lived in Indonesia, where she helped teach Balinese Arts and Culture and Indonesian language to college students, worked at a political risk assessment consultancy, and wrote her Master’s thesis, entitled “Corporate Social Responsibility among Multinational Companies in Indonesia.” Sophia worked as a consultant in Washington, D.C., where she wrote components of a World Bank toolkit on business regulatory reform. Most recently she volunteered in Armenia with Birthright Armenia/Armenian Volunteer Corps. Her assignment was with Heifer South Caucasus. She produced a short documentary video on Heifer’s sustainable development work in villages, interviewed beneficiaries, wrote success stories, and taught English to Getap Village’s youth and teachers.
