Slovakian Armenians already have Armenian Church

YEREVAN, JANUARY 31, ARMENPRESS: Slovakian Armenians already have Armenian Church. As Armenpress was informed from press secretariat of Forum of Armenian Associations of Europe, thanks to efforts of President of Armenian community in Slovakia Ashot Grigoryan, leadership of Slovakian Catholic Church allocated one of Bratislava’s ancient churches for using it as Armenian Church during 99 years.

The church, founded in 14th century, was renovated in 19th and 20th centuries.

An agreement was signed on January 30, granting the administration of one of Bratislava’s ancient churches with a goal to consecrate it as Armenian Apostolic to President of Slovakia’s Armenian community Ashot Grigoryan.

Bishop, His Holiness Haľko officially handed keys of the church to Ashot Grigoryan. Mr Grigoryan pledged to cover the expenses of the church and organize religious events, including ecumenical liturgies, celebrating all Armenian religious and national holidays. Father Barsegh Pilavchian, in his turn, promised to conduct regular services at the Armenian Church, with Father Tiran Petrosian voicing readiness to more often send clergymen from Vienna.

Armenians of Slovakia preparing for lobbying Karabakh independence

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ The Armenian community of Slovakia is seriously preparing for lobbying Nagorno Karabakh’s independence, chairman of the Armenian organizations of Slovakia Ashot Grigorian told a news conference in Yerevan.

“The Armenian lobby is not strong enough in the issue. Azeris are much more active,” he said adding that, nevertheless, the efforts of Armenian lobbyists resulted in passage of the Armenian Genocide resolution by the Slovakian parliament in 2004.

Armenia purchases 10 SU-25 fighters from Slovakia

Yerevan, 7 September 2004 : Azerbaijan newspaper Zerkalo has reported that Slovakia has sold Armenia 10 SU-25 military jets. A Noyan Tapan correspondent has tried to get details of the deal from the head of the Armenian community of Slovakia, Ashot Grigoryan.

Armenia will use Slovakia’s experience in European integration

/PanARMENIAN.Net/ Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian received today the delegation led by Mrs. Olga Algaerova, State Secretary, first Vice Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Slovakia.

The current visit offers a good possibility for further cooperation in issues of mutual interest, according to him.

The parties noted the importance of the Armenian-Slovak relations, especially for development of a political dialogue, and pointed out to the necessity of using Slovakia’s experience in European integration. “Armenia has taken up a European line and we hope for benefits from the process of European integration,” the RA FM said.

They also referred to joint programs within the Armenia-EU Action plan, the RA MFA reported.
