Reg Arsenian
A LEMON tree in North Ryde has "gone mad" for the second year in a row.
And 73-year-old amateur gardener Reg Arsenian has no idea how it happened.
Mr Arsenian has lived in Buna St, North Ryde, opposite Gannan Park, for 28 years.
He planted a , regarded as the best citrus tree for most areas ofAustralia, in his backyard 12 years ago.
For the next 10 years it produced normal sized and shaped lemons.
The Eureka lemon tree he planted 12 years ago started producing huge fruit in 2010.
"The biggest lemon that year weighed 1.6kg," Mr Arsenian said on Monday morning.
"This year, the lemon I have is called the Hand of Buddha, which as well as its unusual shape weighs more than 1kg.

"The last two years the crop has been unbelievable," said the Egypt-born Armenian who came to Australia from France in 1970.
