Paul Akmajian was born in Rome, Italy, grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and has lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the last 28 years. His father, Diran Akmajian was professor of music at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Paul Akmajian received his Master of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico in 1982. He has been on staff (Manager of Multimedia Services) at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine since 1990. In addition to his work and art, Paul is passionate about Argentine Tango, and is currrently teaching tango through the Tango Club of Albuquerque.
Recent travels have taken him to Vietnam, Thailand, Argentina, Mexico, Kenya, and the United Kingdom.

UNM Staff Paul Akmajian and Dan Derksen were selected to present a mini-workshop in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, during 'The Network: Towards Unity for Heath' international conference in November. Akmajian and Derksen will present "Creative Communication: Using Web Logs and Other Tools to build Effective Collaborations" Their workshop was one of only nine accepted from worldwide applicants.
