Jirayr Arsenian

Dr. Jirayr Arsenian would freely administer medical services to 4 out of 5 poor people entering his office. The following morning these four would come and secretly place "a gift for the kind doctor" by the door of his clinic, because in no way would he accept their gifts. He entered United Nations service and accepted the post of "Solomon Islands UNO General Health Agent", half the world away in the South Pacific. He continued his practice of treating freely all the poor and when his UNO contract expired, he immigrated to Canada to serve in hospitals.
