Hermig was a renowned pharmacist in Addis Ababa and was a talented musician in her own right. Together with the rest of her family, she kept the Armenian church choir going - with her singing and playing the organ.
Her father, Maestro Nerses Nalbandian, led the Armenian Church choir. She used to rehearse on a regular basis over a number of months at her home with friends, and later would perform at the Ararat Club before very well-attended audiences.
