Arthur Artushi Aleksanyan
President of Amarashin,Ltd.

Mr. Aleksanyan is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Amarashin a road building concern based in Yerevan. He was born in Stepanakert, the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

Prior to establishing Amarashin he was a Vice President at Hovnanian International, Ltd., and before that he was employed by the National Security Headquarters of the RA from 1994 to 2003. Mr. Aleksanyan graduated in 1982 from the Kineshma Economic Technical College, in the Ivanovo district, Russia.

From 1977 to 1979 he served as mechanic and driver in the tank department of USSR Armed Forces. During the years 1979 to 1988 he was in the Karabakh State Estrada Band as a musician. He taught in his own jazz studio during that time as well.

In 1987 Mr. Aleksanyan joined the signature gathering campaign in Nagorno Karabakh for reunion with Armenia. The following year he worked with the “Krunk” and “Miatsum” social organizations, where he organized public meetings and work-strikes. After Sumgait events he became the Vice-President of “Amaras” benevolent union.

In 1991 he became the Vice Manager at the Security Committee Headquarters of R.A. Ministries Council. He was also the commander of “26” military- technical group.

In 1993 the Minister of Defense of the R. A. appointed Mr. Aleksanyan as the commander of Nagorno Karabakh Republic Self-Defendant Army. After being wounded in 1993, he was appointed to the post of the 4th defense group commander. In 1994 he was awarded the rank of Colonel.

Mr. Aleksanyan was previously married to Nina Hovnanian. They lived with their twin daughters in the Vahakni Residential Community.

He published his autobiography titled Right to Life.
