Armenian terrorism refers to attacks committed by ethnic Armenians. From the 1973 to 1986, a few Armenian individuals and groups attacked mostly Turkish government and some civilian targets in order to garner publicity for the Armenian Genocide, which the Turkish government lobbies around the world to silence any discussion or recognition of. The first attack occurred in 1973 when two Turkish diplomats were assassinated in Los Angeles by Gourgen Yanikian, an elderly man who survived the Armenian Genocide. Two years later ASALA (the Armenian Secret Army for the Liberation of Armenia) and JCAG (Justice Commandos Against Armenian Genocide) began operating, mostly in North America and Europe. Later the Armenian Revolutionary Army began operating, thought to be a renamed JCAG.
