THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA AND THE CALOUSTE GULBENKIAN FOUNDATION RELEASE THE SECOND PART OF THE ARMENIAN LANGUAGE COMPUTER COURSE

The Department of Armenian Affairs of the Gulbenkian Foundation issued the second CD of the "Arevig" Armenian language computer course under the patronage of His Holiness Aram I.

Ms. Asdghig Tchamkerten of the Department of Armenian Affairs' central committee points out in the introduction of the CD that the project has been realized within the celebrations of the 1600th anniversary of the conception of the Armenian Alphabet.

The linguistic-pedagogical editor of the course is philologist Mr. Garo Arakelian with the assistance of several Armenian experts from Aleppo. Micheal Sarkisian is responsible for the technical works and preparation.

The second CD of the course includes essential grammar lessons for the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th classes. The CD's aim is to teach the new Armenian generation its mother language through the use of modern, audiovisual technology. The CD compensates greatly for the lack of such teaching methods in Armenian schools in the Diaspora.

The CD is not designed exclusively for students and can be used by anybody to strengthen Armenian language skills in a fast, simple ands easy way.

The "Arevig" I and "Arevig" II CDs are masterpiece works for Armenian students and interested individuals. The "Arevig" series will be completed in the future for the purpose of teaching accurate Armenian and keeping the Armenian language pure and void of external influences especially in the Diaspora.
