Armenian illuminated manuscripts reached a very highly developed form in a number of different regions across historic Armenia and Armenian communities outside Armenia. Cilicia, Vaspurakan (Van), Jugha, and many other communities produced masterpieces which are on display in museums and collections around the worlds. The Matenadaran in Yerevan today has the worlds largest collection of Armenian illuminated manuscripts, and one of the largest collections of illuminated manuscripts in the world.
