Yerevan Puppet Theater named after Hovhannes Tumanyan celebrated its 70th anniversary in the first decade of October 2005.

A book has been written about theater's history on the occasion of the jubilee. The author, Derenik Martirosian, himself was an actor of the Puppet Theater and has worked there for many years.

He is a great connoisseur of theater and by 2005 was teaching History of Puppet Art at the Yerevan State Institute of Cinema and Theater.

The book consisting of several parts has been translated into English is likely to be found online.

The theater has been a member of "Yunima" (international organization of puppet theaters) since 1975.

Theater's collective spent the jubilee with their permanent and beloved spectators, children. In October 2005 The Theater gave 4 benevolent performances for parentless children and those attending special schools.

As Ruben Babayan, then theater's Art Director, mentioned:

"For a theatrical figure the greatest occasion is pleasing the spectators and when they are glad this is the greatest occasion. I think that marking the jubilee with the spectators is the most efficient way."
